Cookies and Similar Technologies Policy

How website technologies support essential functions, how optional analytics works, and the choices available to visitors.

Last updated: November 2, 2026

1. Scope and application

This policy explains the use of cookies and similar technologies on the WalsonParker public website. It supplements the Privacy Policy, which addresses personal information more broadly, including inquiries, disclosures, security and privacy requests.

The policy provides a common explanation for visitors in different jurisdictions. Applicable requirements depend on the visitor’s location, the activity concerned and the laws that apply to WalsonParker. Nothing in this policy limits mandatory rights or treats a website visit as consent to optional tracking. Separate platforms and services may have additional notices specific to their operation.

2. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text records stored by a browser and sent with subsequent requests according to their scope. Session cookies support continuity between requests; persistent cookies can remain after the browser closes. First-party cookies are associated with the website being visited, while third-party technologies involve an external provider.

Browser local storage also retains information on a device, but does not automatically send it with every website request. Scripts, tags and pixels can transmit information when a page loads or an interaction occurs. These technologies may involve identifiers, page addresses, device and browser characteristics, timestamps and interaction data. An identifier can constitute personal information even when it does not contain a name.

These explanations describe technology types, not a statement that every type is deployed on this website. The current public-site implementation is described below.

Remains until changed, cleared by the visitor or removed by the browser. Managed through the website preference controls and browser storage settings.
Google Analytics

Optional audience measurement. An external analytics script is loaded after analytics is accepted on the public website. It can use analytics cookies and identifiers to measure visits and interactions.Provider and property settings determine cookie lifetime and analytics retention. Actual storage can vary with browser controls and provider changes; optional analytics can be declined in website preferences.

Website delivery also involves technical connection information and may generate server logs. Such processing is distinct from browser storage; rejecting analytics does not prevent the technical communications necessary to request and deliver a page.

4. Optional analytics

The public website is configured to load Google Analytics only after the analytics option is accepted. It helps measure website usage, including visited pages and interactions. The provider can receive browser, device and connection information when its script runs. Analytics is disabled in the local development environment.

Necessary website functions are available without accepting analytics. The current preference interface provides a necessary category and an optional analytics category; it does not offer separate advertising or personalization categories. This policy does not authorize additional tracking merely because a visitor accepted analytics.

5. Consent and preference controls

The cookie panel offers “Accept All,” “Reject All” and “Manage Preferences.” Accepting enables the optional analytics category currently offered. Rejecting keeps that category off. In the preferences panel, the analytics checkbox can be changed and the selection applied with “Save preferences.” Necessary technologies remain active.

Browsing, scrolling or closing a page does not constitute acceptance. Where consent is required, it must be an informed, affirmative choice for the relevant purpose. A saved choice applies to the browser and storage context in which it was made, not automatically to every device or browser used by the same person.

6. Changing or withdrawing consent

Reopen the preference panel at any time, turn analytics off and save the selection, or select “Reject All.” The website records the revised preference and, if Google Analytics is already loaded, sends it an analytics-storage denial update. Reloading the page after rejection prevents the optional analytics script from being loaded again under that saved choice.

Changing preferences does not automatically erase cookies already stored, recall information previously transmitted or remove a script from a page that is already open. Browser settings can be used to delete existing cookies and local storage. A request concerning information already collected can be submitted through the contact channel below.

Browsers may offer controls to block all cookies, restrict third-party cookies or clear site data. Blocking necessary storage may affect forms, session continuity or the ability to remember preferences. Private browsing and clearing site data can require a new selection on a later visit.

7. Storage and retention

Device storage and provider-held information have separate retention periods. Deleting a cookie does not necessarily delete data already received by a provider. Session duration depends partly on browser behavior; the website preference record currently has no built-in expiry.

Analytics cookie lifetimes and the retention of analytics events depend on the deployed provider settings. This policy does not assign an unverified fixed duration to those records. Information about the settings relevant to a particular interaction may be requested from WalsonParker. Browser controls remain available to inspect and remove local storage.

8. Providers and international processing

WalsonParker operates the website and its preference controls. Google provides the optional analytics service. External providers may process technical and usage information in locations outside the visitor’s state, province or country, under their service arrangements and applicable laws.

Where law requires safeguards, disclosures or other conditions for international processing, those requirements apply. Selecting an analytics option is not a waiver of privacy rights or a substitute for legally required transfer safeguards. Further information about disclosures and cross-border processing appears in the Privacy Policy.

9. Local rights and browser signals

Rules governing device storage, consent and personal information differ by jurisdiction. Where prior consent is required for a nonessential technology, it must be obtained before that technology is used. Other laws may provide access, correction, deletion or opt-out rights, subject to their scope, conditions and exceptions.

In Canada, applicable federal or provincial requirements may include meaningful consent and the ability to challenge information-handling practices. In the United States, applicable state laws may provide rights concerning the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising and recognized opt-out preference signals. The legal classification of an activity depends on its actual operation, not simply whether a technology is called an analytics cookie.

Global Privacy Control and older “Do Not Track” settings are distinct browser signals. The current website preference implementation does not automatically read these signals; visitors can use the controls above to reject analytics. This technical limitation does not replace an obligation to honor a legally applicable opt-out signal. Questions or requests concerning such signals may be directed to WalsonParker.

Depending on applicable law, visitors may also raise concerns with a competent privacy authority. This policy does not represent certification of compliance with every jurisdiction’s requirements.

10. External websites and services

Following an external link takes the visitor to a service with its own privacy and storage practices. A preference saved on this website does not necessarily control another website. Relevant notices and controls should be reviewed before using an external service or providing information to it.

11. Changes to this policy

This policy may be revised when website technologies, providers, purposes or legal requirements change. The date above identifies the latest revision. A material change requiring additional notice or renewed consent must be addressed through the appropriate notice or choice; publication of updated wording alone does not establish consent.

12. Questions and privacy requests

Questions about cookies, analytics, stored preferences or privacy rights can be submitted through Contact us. Select “Legal, Privacy & Compliance” as the department and “Legal, privacy or compliance” as the reason, and identify the message as a cookie or tracking inquiry.

Include the relevant website page, the nature of the concern and, where helpful, the browser used and approximate date. Do not send passwords or sensitive identity documents in an initial message. Related information is available in the Privacy Policy and Data subject requests.
