About the institute
A place to examine difficult questions, develop useful methods and connect research with the decisions organizations face.
Our purpose
The WalsonParker Institute focuses on the forces that change how organizations create value, manage uncertainty and make strategic choices. It brings economic, technological and organizational questions into the same conversation, because the decisions that matter rarely fit within a single discipline.
Our starting point is a practical problem with wider implications. A shift in a supply chain may expose questions about resilience, industrial policy and capital allocation. A new technology may change the economics of a service while also changing the skills and controls required to deliver it.
How we approach a question
We define the scope, examine the available evidence and test more than one explanation. A strong analysis makes clear which statements are observed facts, which are estimates and which depend on assumptions. It also states the limits of the evidence and the conditions under which its conclusions may change.
This approach values explicit reasoning over certainty. Scenarios help explore different futures; comparisons reveal where an analogy breaks down; sensitivity analysis shows which assumptions matter most. The purpose is to improve judgment and make disagreement productive.
From inquiry to practical use
The Institute connects research priorities with applied methods, publications and learning. A research finding should help a reader ask a better question, reconsider an assumption or identify a decision that deserves attention.
